WhiteFlag
WhiteFlag, a mental health app offering 24/7 peer-to-peer support and connection, partnered with Next PR to boost brand awareness and establish credibility in the market.
THE CHALLENGE
Facing a heavily saturated telehealth and wellness market, Next PR needed to highlight WhiteFlag’s differentiators to gain attention from investors and support its StartEngine campaign, a crowdfunding effort led by Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary.
HOW WE GOT THERE
By strategically aligning outreach with national awareness holidays like Suicide Prevention Month (September), Depression Awareness Month (October) and Veterans Day (November), Next PR shared the impactful story of Jonny McCoy, a civil rights lawyer turned app founder. After being wrongfully arrested and witnessing a prison suicide, McCoy struggled with anxiety, depression and PTSD. Unresponsive to medication or traditional therapy, he founded WhiteFlag on the principle that a peer-to-peer community is crucial for healing.
To demonstrate app credibility, the team highlighted WhiteFlag’s partnerships with high-profile partners and mental health advocates such as NFL star Justin Simmons and the Cleveland Clinic.
Leveraging real reviews from WhiteFlag app users expressing sentiments like, "I was alone—I am not anymore," and, "This app saved me," helped the team share how WhiteFlag’s unique model effectively addresses feelings of isolation and loneliness in mental health struggles. It also showed how app users can be part of the brand’s overall mission and influence funding.
Next PR then issued a release covering WhiteFlag’s recent momentum and growth, encouraging followers to support the app's mission by contributing to its StartEngine funding campaign.

THE RESULTS
During the two-month campaign, Next PR transformed WhiteFlag from no media presence to nine published stories, spanning both local and national outlets, including Authority Magazine, Yahoo News, Denver7 and WBTW News13.
80% of earned coverage contained backlinks to WhiteFlag’s website and the StartEngine campaign landing page. This surge in visibility caused WhiteFlag’s domain authority to jump to 71 and helped generate over 200 combined clicks from the media placements.
Next PR’s efforts helped the team raise $85K on StartEngine and further extend WhiteFlag's reach into pivotal markets, including Denver and Myrtle Beach. This initiative not only heightened WhiteFlag’s brand awareness, but also fostered connections with influential reporters, leading to post-partnership coverage of its newly opened office location.
